Seeing your journey laid out is so inspiring! It’s a reminder that nothing is linear and we don’t know where (both literally and figuratively) we’ll end up. The important thing is to show up. Congrats on four years, that’s a HUGE accomplishment! I am so excited to continue to watch you grow on this journey!
Michelle! Thank you for helping me figure out what to share in this piece. The path is certainly far from linear. If anything the journey has taught me to surrender and trust in showing up is enough. I appreciate you being a cheerleader from being in my mentor groups, to reading, taking Rhyme, Rhythm, Repeat and our chats about online community spaces. You're such a bright spirit and I am grateful to know you.
Yes! “I want to continue to be someone showing my work because the effort—and imperfections that come with it—shows humanity what it means to be human.”
James -- I was so happy when that line came out of me. It was a little diamond that finally got enough pressure on it to come out in the end. I'm excited to see you keep going too! We get to inspire each other both ways with writing :)
What an amazing writing journey Jen! I am thrilled to have been part of a small slice of it. I love reading your letters because I can feel your pure joy for writing and self expression. It inspires me to take my own writing further. Thank you!
Hey Gwyn!! I I went through my archives and remembered that testimony video you submitted in Jan 2021 that helped me land my mentorship role. That chapter of my writing journey meant so much along with the weekly writing group with you and Lux! I am grateful to you and being in Breakthrough Facilitation and learning your gifts with the world. Thank you for being such an important piece of my journey on that slice :) I am humbled that I can inspire you ✨
You helped me at such an important point in my own writing journey fresh out of WOP! And then was one of the lucky ones to be in your mentor group 😀Thank YOU for support and encouragement as I launched BF. I’m excited to keep learning with you ✨✨
Congrats on 4 years, Jen! That’s an enormous accomplishment. It’s been inspiring to see your journey from mentoring my first WOP cohort (7) to launching your own poetry course, designing your own job following a Twitter DM (how cool!), moving to Hawaii, and so much more.
Also, love your message about writing for the sake of writing without any need of a grand plan. I feel the same, the benefits of reflection and expansion are rewarding in themselves.
